Paradoxes in the Community

There are many contradictory things in our daily lives through our jobs, schooling, home life, and the way we communicate things. One that comes to mind is schooling. Schooling is something that most of all students hate and dread about, but yet school is what students should fathom about and do well in to be successful in life. On other thing is the food they serve. They serve us diet sodas, healthier pizza and fast foods but yet they are still unhealthy sodas and foods. Also in the job world, we save money just to spend it, some people say they struggle to make a living but then tell the rest of the world that America has the best employment or economy.

High School Experience

Through the long and tedious journey of High school, many memories and experiences come with that journey. One High school experience that comes to mind is when I went to my first High school football game with a group of friends. It was my freshman year, I am the runt of the high school grades, and I went to the Millard west vs. West side game with a group of friends. We all crammed into the high tech Tesla that my friends dad was able to buy from his filthy rich job. It was a chilly night and we were all freezing with our thin t-shirts and shorts. We ate cheap Pizza from the concession stand where the cheese was plastic, and the marinara was frozen. and we had soda as well. Of course Millard West won and afterwards, we went to krispy Kreem and got a dozen war and messy donuts, 10 at night.

After High school, their are many options to what you can do. You could go to the military, go to a 4 year college, go to a community college and much more. For me, I hope to attend a four year college and earn at least a masters degree in Architecture. Once I have my degree I hope to work for a company called HDR. Which is an engineering and architecture firm with their headquarters here in Omaha. Right now I am In an HDR program offered to high school students where you get to experience the field first hand. We go over each field of engineering and we do activities for each one. We even get to go to work sites and tour projects.

My weekend

Friday night… Homework flying, siblings complaining about pointless things, two new dachshund puppies colored black and brown, who need to be watched every second. My parents are gone on a date and I’m home with the rest of my family, babysitting each of my 3 other younger brothers and my one other sister. Along with our three dogs who need to be watched at every moment so that they are not getting into trouble. I’m still working on homework because I know I wont be able to finish it tomorrow because of gymnastics practice and work or on Sunday with church, youth group and my little brothers birthday. It felt like 4 in the morning before I had all of my work done and I was skeptical to get up to drive to the gym 6 in the morning. During the long and back breaking Saturday I practiced for about 4 hours. Flipping, strengthening, and moving in unnatural positions in which stretches my aching muscles in every way possible. the following Sunday was not any more relaxing.

Topic of choice

I am applying to University of Nebraska Lincoln. as I write out my resume, Thoughts go through my head. What should I write? what should I include? Then it hit me. I wanted to be on the college’s Gymnastics team so writing down the time I went to the college’s Gymnasts camp would be good. I write down my experience and the compliments I got from the team coaches and team members in which I practiced with. The camp was very fun and I could recall the memories I made their and the many new people I met. I also wanted to include on my resume, I was apart of the NSHSS and that I have been very successful in schooling and keeping my grades up.

Engaging concept

One thing that really engages me into learning is getting hands on in learning activities. One teacher in particular is Mr. Mentzer who teaches the Engineering class and in that class we get very hands on and we explore different ways to design, build and research products and new innovations. We use rulers, to design and graph paper to draw. I like to create new things and to improve upon ideas. so this class is very engaging and fun to participate in. One project in particular is when we had to get a Lego man across the room an a string and our group got the farthest on the string because we were engaged in designing and building our product.

Worst failure

My greatest failure to me is wen I didn’t make it to nationals last year in My gymnastics competition. It was regionals, where Me along with every other team in our region were competing to be accepted to go to nationals. Nationals is one of the biggest meets for journo Olympic team members, which I am apart of. This year, the meet was in Reno Nevada and I was so ready to make it. I worked my butt off the whole year to get the best chance to go. I competed every event, no falls, no large deductions, or mess ups of any kind. I ended with an all around score of 68.9. The cut off for Nationals that year was 69.95. I was so close and I was so heart broken. To go to Nationals is like a once in a life time opportunity for a gymnast. But I didn’t let that stop me. This year I am working hard, to improve my skills, add difficulty, and I plan to make it to nationals before I go to college. I learned that you wont always get what you want, but you should keep trying and giving it your best.

I like to play this game called roller coaster tycoon 3 and it is very fun and really brings out the architect inside of me. I love to build and design things and this game is perfect for that side of me. I have downloaded so many extras for the game in which I can place and design every 2 foot long board to 40 foot long post in a roller coaster. I have build several so far and each one i build takes me about 3 weeks to fully design test and construct. I particularly love to build wooden coasters because of their intricate designs and structure that keeps it from falling over. The coaster I am working on now is a wooden coaster that is 111.3 feet tall and goes a top speed of 73 miles an hour with 4000 feet of track.

Write about the song

This song is about a man who moved in the great depression and was looking for work. He worked in plowing fields, he built railroads for trains and he said he built a tower. He seems to be very poor because he say “can you spare a dime”. Many people came to the U.S. in search of jobs and a better life, but were meet with hard labor, low income, and harsh weather. Yet the singer seems to still be striving for the american dream and to live out a good life in america.

1930’s gangster

It was an unusually cold night in the city of Jamesville where nothing but mafia groups and gangsters reek in the streets. One particular gangster lurking the dark streets was beat’n Ethan. He was meeting with his fellow mafias in their group called the dominates, to raid the local jewelry store. There rial gang was the superiors. The dominates unexpectedly meet the superiors right at the scene of the future robbery. The Superiors were waiting for them. Beat’n Ethan reacted quickly by taking out his Tommy gun he stashed away in a guitar case he was carrying. He made swift moments to take out the opposing gang. As this was going on, witnesses were calling the police without the gangs realizing it. The once planed robbery turned into a fight between the two most dangerous gangs in Jamesville. After about 10 minutes of shooting, the police arrived and stopped the fight. Miraculously, Beat’n Ethan was the only one left.
